I have an ameritron al 80 a and a als 600. I've never worried about the alc beacause everything I own runs under 100watts. I recently purchased a kenwood 830 s that does more than 100 watts. I don't want to burn up my amps.

On cw, I can manually reduce the power and that is not a problem. I cannot do that with ssb so I will have to rely on the alc.

Does anyone have a simplifed instruction on how to set the alc for dummys? I'm a little confused with the manual instruction.
