Nice touch with the Double Gulp sitting on top of the Halicrafters. "Hey, let put a glass of liquid on top of an old tube type radio. What could happen?'

It looks like someone else is trying to melt a hat and some coax with a soldering gun good times!

I got my first chance to solder coax connectors onto LMR-400. That SURE is harder coax to solder than regular RG-8! I had to rush back here to work to get some PL-259s to put on the brand new LMR-400 we had for the 2 meter antenna. I impressed upon the club that 200ft of RG-8 would have INCREDIBLE LOSS and the only way to have even a MILLIWATT left to the antenna is to use LMR-400.

We then added a piece to extend the 6 meter coax. So, 4 PL-259s installed on Field Day and the club members got a live demonstration of just how to do it.
UNFORTUNATELY, I couldn't get the soldering tip hot enough to melt the solder well on the shield, so it is poor connections on them, but they worked. Need almost a TORCH to solder those!
