    I'd recommend taking a look at XCircuit: http://opencircuitdesign.com/xcircuit/
    It's free and open-source software and they have libraries for fun stuff like vacuum
    tubes. The output looks much nicer than that produced by Eagle CAD.

    Another possibility is the freeware version of DipTrace. This package includes schematic capture and PCB design with autorouting, and schematics can be saved in bit-map (bmp) format. Its library of components is very large, and it makes good looking schematics. Find it at www.diptrace.com.

    TurboCAD is a useful 3D CAD package. I think all versions from 5Pro have included a useable set of schematic symbols.

    That said, LTspice/SwitcherCAD III is both free and probably better suited to your immediate purpose.
