Default FlexButtons Adds 100 Memory Buttons to Flex PowerSDR

100 memory buttons and more for Flex PowerSDR

I am pleased to announce the release of FlexButtons, donationware software that adds memory buttons for PowerSDR (Flex SDR Radios) and an integrated CAT interface to MixW digi-mode software.

I created FlexButtons for two reasons. Firstly I was frustrated with the memory function in PowerSDR (TM). I wanted a quick and easy way to store the current frequency and other parameters and recall them by pressing a button rather than delving into a menu based system. FlexButtons works a little like the buttons on your car radio, simply press ‘Save’ and then the button position that you want to use.

Secondly I wanted to use my Flex radio with digimode software, in my case MixW(TM). The problem was that with only one monitor, the Digimode screen sits on top of PowerSDR(TM) and it disappears when you go to change a filter setting or any other function on the Flex radio.

With FlexButtons you can run PowerSDR(TM) minimised but still control the features I wanted, such as; mode, mute, VAC, and the filter width.

If you save your favourite digimode frequencies to memory buttons you can easily swap between bands and band segments.

Now I have two monitors and normally run PowerSDR(TM) on one with MixW on the main monitor with FlexButtons as a kind of tool bar at the bottom of the screen.

FlexButtons has full help and installs without making changes to Windows registry.

FlexButtons v1.0 Beta is availabe free from the author, my email is under ZL3DW on QRZ.com

God I hate it when authors make you come crawling to their email or Yahoo group in order to download the software.

I'm interested, but not interested enough to email someone and ask for it. Give us a link to download it and quit screwing around.

That's not fair. Making it available for download may subject the software to security risks, to it being picked up by ad-run download sites (which may attach their own security risks), or may simply cost more money and time in a way that's not worth it for the author.

Andrew actually made something and has offered it for free. You don't want it - then don't ask for it. But Andrew certainly has every right to distribute his offer privately and in the manner he wishes. saying "email me and I'll send a copy" seems WILDLY reasonable to me.

Andrew, I don't own a Flex but if I did I'd be interested. And I'd have an email written in less time than a complaint post. Good luck sir!

Gee, good thing everything I download doesn't require emailing the author. I'd rather do without than join another group, register another account, or email someone directly to ask.

Yes, this reply took longer, but that's not the point. If you're going to offer your skills, thank you, but don't make me work for it too. Loosen control a little bit man!

Well, it IS still an RF device connected to an antenna and facilitates direct connection with other HF stations without the need for any infrastructure other than the Atmosphere. So technically, it is still real 'radio' - just evolved.

Interesting that the US military is converting all the 'classic' knob based radios to all SDR now. Love my Drake & Yaesu but love my Flex more. Thank you Andrew... you have mail.

Do you have any idea what a Software Defined Radio is? Apparently not.
