    Default TH480 Control

I have new TH480 and would like to have info on the Remoterig System and what all is needed to set a system up using their equipment. I need to know what other items are needed to get my TS480 on the air. Due to being out in the country side I would only like to call a radio store one time to get all the needed parts. If there are easer was to remote from other countries then I would love to hear any suggestion that are out there. I have also been reading all I can find. This is all new to me, I started with Vacuum tubes.

    Hi Milton,

I use RemoteRig with my TS-480.

The "extras" you need depend on what you want to do. If you only need to control the radio (not an amp, or rotator) then all you need are two 9 pin serial cables with female connectors on both ends (straight through cable, not a null modem cable). One pair connects to the radio and the RemoteRig at the "Radio" end. The other connects to the RemoteRig and the computer at the "Control" end.

With this set up you have computer rig control at the operating location, SSB and CW keying. It gets a little more involved if you want to do digital modes, control an amplifier or a rotator.

    Good luck.
