Default Replacement battery for Icom IC-W32a ?

    Hey folks.

I posted this up in the General questions forum but didn't get much of a response.

I have an Icom IC-W32a HT.

    The original battery is shot.

What do you sat guys recommend for a replacement battery?

    thanks.

It has been my experience that batteries from the original manufacturer are the best, but I have had some luck with batteries from W&W Manufacturing/

You might want to get the dry pack. With high capacity NiMh it is as good as the propriatary pack. And much more flexible.

    For 4-cells it is a 170, for 6 cells it is a 170L.

I see a 170L on bay for $20 delivered. That is the way I would go.

If I remember correctly, Batteries America has a SIX-CELL AA case for the IC-W32a ...

The IC-W32a TX power is 1.5W with the IC-BP-170/171/172.

But six AA NiMH cells - 7.2VDC - gets you to 3.5W TX power.

Not until you give it 9.6VDC do you get full 5.0W (VHF) / 4.5W (UHF) transmit power.
