QST Archive Retrieval
I am an ARRL member, joined just before last Christmas. One of my main interest was to be able to access and download the various articles from yesteryear. Well, I can't even get anything to pull up! I've used exact information i.e. year, author, callsign etc. but always get - No results to display. If I could retrieve articles but not the one in question, that would be one thing - I can't pull up anything, ever. Do any of you have any difficulty with this?
I emailed ARRL with this same question, but have not received any response as of about 2 weeks now.
It's all about the antenna! Build the antenna. Put up a bigger antenna, put up a better antenna, you can never over achieve when it comes to antennas!

You are using the search page here: http://www.arrl.org/arrl-periodicals-archive-search ?
I tried it this morning and it seems to be working fine.
Maybe you're using too much "exact" information in the search criteria. Try just year and either author name or author callsign but not both. Make sure you clear the search fields before each search, and that you have QST selected in the publications box.
Also the QST archive only goes up to 2011. Articles from this year are accessed from a different page.

Just as an arbitrary test case that I know works for me right now, try a search for Author Name: DeMaw, Year: 1973, Publication: QST, and Title/Keyword: QRP. You should get about 7 results.

Don't forget that you need to have some form of PDF file reader, like Adobe Reader. I agree that it seems to work better with only one or two search terms. "Demaw tuna" or "Tuna tin" Better to start with a broad search and then narrow it.
I'm not sure how good (consistent) it is searching for callsigns of authors. I think it more reliable to use the authors surname.
It appears that they entire text of articles is not searchable, the titles or headers are typically indexed.
They did not archive the full magazine of each edition. Advertising pages are typically not included unless there was a portion of an article or text on that page. (A big gripe of mine).

I pulled some WARC articles from 1977 today. No problem.

Seems to work fine. Did a search on KL7AJ and came up with a bunch or articles.

What is your search? Let others try. I am able to search on keyword and year with no problems.

If it makes you feel better, I've had issues with it, too. As someone said, if you are too specific it seems to give it apoplexy - there is no 'fuzziness' in the search engine, apparently, or at least not enough. I hope it will improve over time, but I haven't seen much improvement yet. If I know what I'm searching for, I can usually find it, but sometimes I am stymied.

Here's a link from scribd.com. I can pull up some other articles from this guy but not this one specifically. Just seems I should be able to do that on the ARRL page.
