HRD Software, LLC and W4PC software today announced a bundle package for Ham Radio Deluxe and Radio Operations Center Software for Timewave/AEA and Kantronics TNCs.

Many hams want to use the ARQ modes in Pactor, AMTOR and GTOR that are supported in hardware TNCs but not in soundcard software modes. Now W4PC Software’s Radio Operations Center 3.99 for the TNCs synchronizes with the HRD DM-780 soundcard mode program so either ROC or DM-780 can key the radio through the TNC. If the TNC has a built-in soundcard (PK-232SC) or soundcard interface (PK-232PSK, PK-900PSK and DSP-232+), no radio-TNC-computer interconnection changes are necessary to switch between soundcard modes and the TNC modes.

“The old meets the new”, said Rick Ruhl, W4PC, owner of W4PC software and an owner of HRD, “ W4PC Software, HRD and Timewave programmers and engineers have combined to make TNCs and soundcard mode software compatible for the first time.

Randy Gawtry, owner of Timewave Technology and also an owner of HRD said, “Timewave has added a USB soundcard and rig control board to the legendary PK-232 to give the new PK-232SC a single USB cable connection to the computer from the TNC. Even with rig control, precision-timed hardware CW and FSK, there are only four connections from the TNC to the radio. Using only AFSK modes requires just two connections”

The bundle price for ROC and HRD is $99.95.

HRD 5.2X is free, but will include a no charge upgrade to version 6.0 with the purchase of 5.X support for $59.95. The retail version of HRD will be $79.95 when it is released in August 2012. Those that have purchased or will purchase the 5.X support will still get one year of support from the date of the 6.0 release.

Wow..... Had it for free all these years, and now that someone is developing, improving, supporting it as their business you want no part of it? Seems like even buying it now, we got a great deal FOR YEARS. Wow...

I'll buy it when it comes out. I like to support ham related business.

W4HUF, I don't know if you've done any software development, but it's a royal pain in the ass.. They should be compensated for their efforts.

Can't really blame someone for being gun shy.

Getting Version 6 working first may have been a better Idea than adding more cost for something that is not working yet.

Has Version 6 been released and I missed it ?

Maybe it is just me, But I do not get it.

Hams just want what they pay for.

    Link is messed up ?

Glad we finally got you! :)

Hams do respond to go deals.. it's not like we're used car dealers or something LOL (and yes, I know Jim Haney was a used car dealer) ;)

6.0 is planned for august.. we decided to wait and fix more issues before releasing it. And you get 1 year of support and upgrades for HRD from the day it's release..not when you purchase it.

I guess using W4HUF's logic, since I might want a TS-520 and don't want to pay for it, he should send me his for free ;)

    <grin>

W4PC, If you want to sell professional software You may want to have a professional website.

    http://www.hrdsoftwarellc.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?pid=3 Is not working properly.

You may want to test different browsers. It does not work with mine.

How do you expect people to trust your software, when your website asking for a credit card number does not work ?

Just trying to help, but you seem to not care.

Uh it worked fine for W9MB and others.... and I keep getting orders...

It's a online store, based with perl, commerce-cgi.. plug and play. http://www.commerce-cgi.com.. running on Linux.

Sounds like it something on your end, it works with Chrome, Firefox, IE 7-9-8, etc etc.

You assume so much, but know nothing about me.. I called you one night to discuss your QRZ posts, but you never called me back.

    Very strange..

Where did this myth get started? If hams were cheap, then the big 3 and the little 4 would be out of business and hamfests would have gone the way of the dodo bird.

Hams are discriminating buyers simply because that is the way we are and for good reason. WE KNOW WHAT WE'RE BUYING AND WE ARE TRAINED THAT WAY!

When we decide, most plunk down big bucks. I know I have through my 44 years as a ham.
