Default External Band Scope for IC-7200?

May not be the correct forum so move away moderator(s) if in the wrong area..

Anyone know if or how to add an external band scope to the IC-7200? Haven't found it on the web (yet), still looking...gotta be a simple methodology for this stellar radio...

If the 7200 does not have a broadband IF output, you'll have to dig in and bring out a buffered output before any roofing filters. You could then use an SDR-IQ, or the Elecraft P3 if the IF is low enough. Many of the Icom's I am familiar with use a first IF in the 60MHz range, so a down converter board would also be necessary for use with either of the above. You cvould probably modify the IF-2000 down converter from RF Space.

That's what I was thinking. IME, most modern rigs don't provide for it, and the roofing filter limits the bandwidth to ±10 or 20 KHz. I lucked-out with my TS-850S. It has TWO 1st Mixers, mixing up to 70MHz. One feeds the roofing filter, etc. The output of the other mixer (called the Noise Blanker Mixer) is mixed down to 8.83 MHz for the noise blanker. That also feeds a jack on the rear panel for a Panadapter/bandscope. It's as broad as a barn door... several hundred KHz.

Yeah, am thinking like with my FT-1000, have to bring out an IF for a pan adapeter..thought by now someone would have already done that and I could get some info....
