Yaesu ADMS software is bad
I purchased two sets of Yaesu ADMS software, one for a FT-50, another for a FT-1500. #Neither of these will work on a modern computer. #To program these radios I must keep an old Pentium 100 mHz notebook around.
It appears as if this software was written for DOS machines and ported to Windows computers without modification. #Error messages from the software abound and I am only able to use it on the old computer. #Communications between modern computers and external devices can be made to work easily and reliably, but Yaesu has not been able to do this.
Yaesu has been informed about the problems, but do not respond to email.
Don't flush your money down the toilet by buying this software.

I do have an update on this situation. #
I did email the people who wrote the software for Yaesu withing 24 hours. #They offer a "free" replacement for the old software for $5.00 and sending them the original media. #It is worth it to me if the newer versions do in fact work. #I will keep you updated.
Their email address is: techsupport@cloningsoftware.com

Two and a half weeks after sending my $5 for the "free" updates, I got two mini-CD's in the mail. I did install the ADMS-1E software. Guess what, it does not even go as far as the old version before it comes up with a "Communication Error". These idiots now require a 20 charactor SN: to install and they want to put the software in the root directory instead of the Program Files directory.
If as much effort were put into communications as they put into security possibly this might work.
But for now, I have sent another $5 and received junk software in return.

Um, there is a reason you see old computers at a hamfest. There is nothing wrong with having a old computer, I got twelve of them.

Problems??
I have the software for my VX-170 and Ft-897D and have not had any problems with either. Using it on a Dell with XP Home....
I thought I could get rich in the stock market by investing in
Viagra, Geritol, And Ginseng but my stocks didn't rise to the occasion.
Hell, I figured that there was always somebody somewhere either trying to
Get it up
Get it going
or
Trying to remember what to do with it.

Is there a glitch in the new system, or is this thread really 4 years old??

What software for the 897D?
The universe is a pretty big place. If it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space.

Radio programming software is always really putrid, having seen ADMS, I think its at least par for the course. Motorola software is okay, but hard to use for a massive job, especially over a dozen modes... Ericsson/MA-Comm software is okay, but makes entering a large amount of stuff hard, and tends to cause problems if you dont verify what you entered, same with VX7 Commander, although Commander is easier for large additions.
Really good? Kenwood software for the TK-330 and TK-380, you can work quickly, but the TK-330 software lacks copy/paste functions.
Bad? The software for Motorola Saber radios.
Really bad? Eh... hex editing "codeplugs"... EPROMs.
