JT65-HF Question About Log File
Today I believe I had my first JT65 QSO
It all seemed to go well, I believe.
CQ Called
CQ Answered
Report Sent
Report Rcv'd
And so on.
Contact was logged, but now how do I access that LOG FILE?
I can access the Transmit Log because there is a button in the window for that, but I would like to see that QSO Log if possible.
Thanks

When you log the contact, look at the dialog box. It tells you where the file is saved, and what it is called.
In most cases, it will be in a folder like C:\Users\KD3NE\..... and is usually called jt65hf_log.adi.

Oh, I can find the file just well.
Only when I try to open it I get the " Windows Can't Open This File " message.
So I need to know what program it takes to open this file.

It should open up with notepad, etc.

Well it doesn't like anything on the Windows 7 notebook.
I'll copy it over to one of my Mac's tomorrow and see if something there will let me view it.
In reality the JT65-HF program should have some sort of " view/print " option, after all it is creating and keep the LOG file.

It's a csv (comma-separated value) file. You should be able to view it with Notepad, though the format looks better with Excel or OpenOffice compatible spreadsheet program.

It is an ADIF file...standard format for transferring logs between most logging software packages. It should be readable with Notepad, but is better read by importing it into a more full-featured logging software. Most software-based logbooks support ADIF import.
More information on the ADIF format can be found at: www.adif.org

If you get the "Windows Can't Open This File" message, then simply right click on the file, choose "Open With" and then select Notepad as the program to use to open the file. You can also set Notepad to be the default program to open ADIF files with.
Personally, if all you want to do is read the file, and maybe make a few small edits, then I'd recommend ADIFMaster, which can be downloaded at http://www.dxshell.com/adif-master.html

What version are you running that is produces ADIF? Maybe I need to upgrade.

v1.0.9.3
JT65-HF produces two log files...one used by the program to keep track of the Transmit Log....this is a CSV, I believe.
Then, using the "Log QSO" button on the interface, the user can log QSOs manually to include the sent/received readings, times, frequency, and even power and any notes the user wants to save.
This file is called "jt65hf_log.adi" and it is saved in the c:\users\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\JT65HF folder. It is an ADIF file (with the "ADI" suffix) and can be imported into any logbook that supports ADIF.
