AMERITRON AL-80B AMP
I have a al-80b, got it in a package deal, wired for 110-120vac, i powered it up and the tube flashed
i shut it down right away, i have not looked into it, i think it's a bad tube, not sure. Amp is clean
i have no need for it, this is a one tube amp 3-500z , i will sell as is. If you pick-up get good deal.
I will fix if it does not sell when i have time. $750 or best offer, i will ship

This amp is a tank, and a very reliable one. Is the 10 meter conversion done? Is it possible that was screwed up.
Makes no sense the tube would just blow.

Anyone who wants this amp $500 as is, i really have not looked into it to deep, but looks like not anything major.
Good deal for someone that wants a nice amp and not break the bank. phil516@hotmail.com

Yeah, actually it does. 3-500Z will arc if it gets gassy. That can happen if it sits for a long time in a damp atmosphere. There's an article in QST on how to apply voltage to old tubes. I am running a 3-1000Z in a Harris RF103 amplifier. I say a prayer every time I turn mine on.

Update on this amp, took cover off, someone removed front feet, one of the nuts that hold the feet on was loose inside cabinet.
Not sure if this is what might have caused the problem, but now with tube pulled amp has high voltage, fan running. Tube looks good, but we all know that does not mean anything, i will have to test and see. Phil
