    Default EQSLing going great guns

I been using the GQ call for about two weeks now and have made 824 entries in my logs so far. I decided that the only feasible way to QSL was to use eQSL. I'm really happy that so far I have received 173 eQSL cards from my contacts using the special call. It's really great to see people using the computer to send cards. I no longer send QSL cards through the bureau or direct, I am just not prepared to pay the money they are asking to send letters abroad, the price is absolutely horrendous sending anything outside of the UK, actually it is horrendous sending letters inside the UK thinking about it.

While I agree it's nice to see QSL'ing being done via the net, eQSL confirmations are really not worth much as far as award chasing goes. I upload to eQSL as a courtesy to fellow hams and I also use LoTW and I still send cards out via the bureau although not nearly as many as in the past. In your instance when using a special call sign, many hams myself included enjoy receiving that special callsign/QSL card especailly if it is a card made up for the event is is commemerating.
Using the bureau is not that expensive for the service they provide. The other option is to ask for green stamps or IRC's to help defray your cost of finalizing the QSO with your special QSL card.

I would like to thank professor W4HUF for this fine segment in the long running seminar of Attention Whoring 1A.

Ham Radio Operators? what are those ? i though they were just myth.. Nah they dont exist!

Prof: " Don't ask me stupid questions like, 'What's Newton's First Law?'" Student: "Who's Newton?"

eQSL awards are just as worthy as LoTW awards. LoTW authentication is over-rated, eQSL has it right. I don't need an external pat on the back for my awards. I know I earned them, so why would I care if someone else puts their nose up in the air because it wasn't printed by the ARRL?

Very well put. I use EQSL and have achieved some of their awards. Printed them out, good enough for me.

I started to set up the LOTW but didn't bother mailing them photo copies of my license and one other piece of ID. PITA.

My EQSL return rate for cards sent is about 75%. So that is pretty good IMO when there are no postage costs involved.

I couldn't of said it any better.
