Like others have said before, the macros are impersonal but they are a conversation starter. I use the macros but leave one to two lines open near the bottom to add a question or for an answer to a question. Having the space near the bottom gives me the chance to type something before it is sent with out a delay. And if you have ever made contact with me you will sometimes notice that the answer to your question is jibberish.....my fingers were on the wrong keys and I didn't notice until it was being sent. LOL.. you can make any impersonal macro personal. Have fun and make it fun.... Good day and good DX.

Just as some people suffer from 'mic fight', some suffer from 'keyboard fright'. Macros are a way of coping with that, for some. They are also a blessing for the people who can't type or can't spell, and that's still a fair portion of the population. I suspect the younger ones were 'texting' on cellphones ling before they got on the air, and they are accustomed to 'conversations' that amount to 1-3 lines between the two parties.

Beats me. I'm 50 and spent lots of time doing online chat, etc... back when that was all we had. I personally find the digital modes easier than phone.

Macros can be edited. They do not all have to sound so impersonal. And, you can have more than one that says pretty much the same thing.
