he sent me a personal check instead, so I advise him I had received his check, and would tell him when the check cleared and would ship radio. check bounced and my bank charged me $10, I sent him an email asking him to call me so we

There is a HUGE difference between a draft (money order, personal
check, bank check, etc) being paid and being cleared.
And %99.999 of bank tellers don't know the difference, so don't wait in line,
go straight to the Bank Manager's desk and let him/her know what
you want: Notification when that draft has been PAID.
The bank has a YEAR to come to after you for the funds if later
on the document is found to be fake and you were given the
money order or whatever.
And the bank will just take the money out of any account
you have the balance in to cover that amount.
Be careful, even if it's a bank check, Walmart money order,
whatever.... and especially if it's a credit union money order.
There are a lot of good forgeries out there.
Another case for the use of "PAY PAL ONLY" and wait till it is in your checking account about 3 days after you receive it!!
