Help with Alinco vhf/uhf mobile radio

I have an old Alinco 510T, that recently developed a problem. The radio powers up, and functions as it should. However, when it is tuned on a frequency, it will default back to 145.00 after a few minutes. I'm thinking that it may be a faulty cap, but which one, and how do I troubleshoot it ? I can't afford to send it in for service or replace the radio.

I'd check first to see if the rig uses an internal Memory Cell battery, which may be exhausted.

Yup, just go to the Alinco site and in the area of service manuals select the DR-510 and download it. Then open the zip file and save the pdf to your computer. Site is here; http://www.alinco.com/pdf.files/.
