I'm not aware that we have an Information Commission in the U.S.. Our data privacy laws are fairly crude and ineffective, except where someone's commercial ox is being gored, in which case the government suddenly takes on the role of Superman to go after the evil doers. There are laws protecting certain special classes of data, such as private medical records. There are currently loud complaints about making the required public notices for corporations who donate huge sums to political campaigns - the billionaires are demanding 'privacy' so we don't know which ones are buying which politicians.
