    Default W6Z -- USS ALABAMA & USS DRUM on the Air this weekend!

    This weekend is the annual ships weekend special event. 98 ships will be on the air this weekend. Here is the link for further details.

    Special Note: Working the Alabama station W6Z counts for working two ships. Both the USS Alabama Battleship and the USS Drum Submarine moored in Battleship Park, Mobile, Alabama. Look a the W6Z page in QRZ for photos and further details on how to work W6Z.

    My father (1903 - 1975) was in the submarine service and he would no doubt love to hear me contacting some of the old boats via this hobby of ours. I'm so glad I got back in after a 15 year absence! I'll be hollarin' - I hope they hear me on my meager setup!
