    Default Datum X-72 VCXO

    Hello,

I just got one of those rubidium oscilators (Datum x-72) from ebay. The reason i didn't get cheaper type is because i need
52 Mhz clock, at least the pdf said that it could be generated. After some experiments with the programming
options it seems mine one is factory set at 60 Mhz and the 52 Mhz is just another ordering option.

Maybe somebody has experience with those and it is possible software change to 52 Mhz or if i open and change the
crystal/reflash firmware ? Any help will be appreciated.

According to the on-line information the frequency is programmable with software. What that software is I'm not really sure. The mention of the possible changes are in this pdf file; http://www.symmetricom.com/media/fil...al/man-x72.pdf.
It's on page 20. You might want to contact the folks at Datum and see if there is anything you can do with what you currently have.
From looking at the product manual they seem to tell you what you need to do in the Appendix and the command is the letter "f" as shown on page B-8. Don't forget there are setups for the proper way to communicate with the X72.
    Hope this helps

    Hi Gary,

Thanks for your reply. I did read the pdf(few times). I did play with the interface, i can disable/enable outputs,
save the changes to the NV memory. The 'f' command didn't change the output on any of the 3 outputs for
    some reason.

Will keep on search on the net.

Just as follow up, i got a reply from a nice guy that works for the manufacturer. It is not possible to change the VCXO freq
by software alone. So it is really two different models - 52 and 60 Mhz.
