So far, an opening on 6m to New England for a couple of hours in the late afternoon, and that's it. I'm hoping for tomorrow. But, if I get a call to help out at the animal shelter, I'll be out of luck. Not activity on 2 and above today.

Was hot and heavy from New England earlier on 6; still good into Arizona but seems open into a small slice there. Starting to hear Colorado now so there is still hope. 2 meters has been pretty dismal. Will try 432 tomorrow morning and see what happens.

I got my plumbing problem fixed and everything cleaned up enough so that the only thing left to do is let things dry out. Set up some fans and headed up to the contest site in late afternoon. I ended up spending most of my time on the 70cm station, and a little bit on 1.25m. Didn't get a chance to operate 6m or 2m. Conditions were OK, not great but not real bad.

I was surprised that a number of ops answered my SSB CQs with CW. The signals were plenty strong enough that SSB would have worked. Whatever works for them, I guess - the contacts still count.

I will head back up there tomorrow for more fun.

Just got back from a short ROVER trip through DM87, which is SE of my DM78 QTH. Gave a few guys a new grid from my QRP 5w mobile rig while driving amoung the corn and other crops out there. I was told DM87 is semi-rare.

We had a good 6m opening to Europe today. We got a bunch of UK and Ireland in the log, and a few Italy and Germany. After that, 6m opened to the Midwest and West. I think everyone left the higher bands to work the 6m openings, because activity on other bands really dropped off.

We had some severe thunderstorms pass by, it was cool to watch them from the hilltop. We had no severe weather at our site, just a very short rain shower.

A good Sunday made up for a dismal Saturday, I guess.
