Angry Over priced stuff on QRZ

Just got through taking a look at some of the Ham Radio For Sale stuff.

I am just curious: Where-in-the-Hell do some people get off selling older ham radio equipment for more than it was worth brand new and then telling you in the sales commentary that "no returns are accepted"?

I won't pick out the individual, but why would one sell an older CW only TX for much more than it was new and then tell someone that if it doesn't work, you can't return it?????

YBYA! If I buy something from someone and it don't work, I will return it, even if I have to make a trip to the person's home QTH to do so.

    Uh John,

If you don't like the price, don't buy it.

    Agree with both.

Still, I like my commercial radios. Especially the HF Motobot I own. Its ALE capable, but not used for it.

Ignore the ad if you don't like the price. Myself, I would rather do a face to face at a ham swapmeet or craigslist (or a local selling on QRZ) than anything sight unseen off of the internet. I look at the prices everyday here on the newer posts, sometimes I say to myself wow, but a seller can ask any price they care to. I would hate to see the alternative such as a price scale be implemented here. The market will always self adjust in regards to radio equipment, patience can be the key to savings.

Yep. That's the way the free market operates.

I figure it is worth closer to $10

Absolutely! I've passed up a LOT of things on qrz.com and other websites because I felt, that the price
was too high. Sometimes, if I'm really interested in an item, I'll email the seller with an offer. Sometimes
I get a response, (rarely nasty) and we make a deal. Other times, I either get a "no way" response or
    no response at all.
Even with the "No return" policy that 99% of the seller have, I have yet to be burned. I don't have any
illusions that it won't happen. But, so far it has not. I cannot say that about some hamfest deals I have
gotten. Lucky for me on one Kenwood radio I bought from a guy at a hamfest, I was able to track down
the guy he was selling it for. The seller had to call his wife to get his cell number to answer a question of
mine about the radio. He wrote the guy's cell number on the box! Later, when I got home and I could not
get the radio to work, I called the cell number and after a chat with the original owner, the guy selling it
for him met me in another town about 20 miles from me and returned my money. He wasn't too happy
about it either. Saved me $700.
Other times, I have not been so lucky.

As far as things listed on QRZed, I have found that REGARDLESS of the price, things are GONE in seconds!! YES SECONDS!!!! I can offer a Heathkit TWOER for $1000 and I would have HUNDREDS of Emails begging me for it!!! It seems QRZed has such a large readership that nothing can last between Mouse clicks! I refresh the screen very frequently, and have occasionally seen something that caught my fancy. But as soon as I click on it (even though it was posted only SECONDS BEFORE), There is quickly a "SOLD!!!!!!!!!" post by the seller on it. In ALL cases, Being a MICROSECOND LATE is way WAY too late!

So QRZed is DEFINITELY the place to sell junk. Maybe I oughta list my NON WORKING Heathkit SB-230 for $700. Someone will call me in a few seconds about it!
