    The TR-4CW would be my first choice. As you said, the TR4 doesnt have the 500 hz CW filter or RIT.
    I took this one home due to the excellent condition and lack of mods by anyone. Prices have skyrocketed and this was decent for the age and condx.
    I really did enjoy the tube audio on CW in the few hours it worked, I could see using a sharp audio filter in the future.

    Instead of a audio filter why not get a DSP unit. I have the MFJ-784B and for use on CW it is super. It's in the audio chain. Don't know of a RF type DSP for the TR-4. For the older rigs this helps a lot. Used mine with a TS-50S. On CW, RTTY and DiGITAL it's excellent. On SSB not so much. There are other units that will be helpful. Just do a internet search for them.
