Default First Satellite contact on AO-27...however I made a mistake

I just got back inside from attempting my first contact on a Satellite. My new Arrow Satellite Antenna was dropped off by UPS just 45mins before the pass. Had a clearing in the storms so I attempted contact. The antenna was a impulse buy of wanting to try....now I'm hooked. However, the person making contact by was clear however I didn't have a set up to record the Rx and When i went to write it down I was so excited I forgot the call sign. It was either a W4 or W5 with F/G somewhere in there. I know Noob mistake. If the person that made contact with me is on here please let me know either via pm or my email listed on the QRZ page. I have QSL cards I can send.

I hope to work many passes on the FM satellites that I can.

Thank you sir. After I get use to the FM birds I'll find me a pair of SSB radios and try the others.

Get the recorder first. I missed my first satellite QSO the same way. Things happen fast on the FM birds.

A year or so ago I was trying to find a (cheap) recorder for this very purpose and somebody on this forum said "You probably have a cellphone and they all have recorder functions, try that." I did and it worked like a charm. Just activate the record function, put the cellphone in your shirt pocket and you are good to go.

    Zack,

You got me near my home in grid EM21. Today I'm out on the road for work. I'm in EM02. Work me here and you'll snag another grid square. Later this evening and tomorrow I will be in EM03. That'll be three new grids for you. 100 and you can apply for your VUCC-Satellite award. There are also AMSAT awards for making your first contact and making 20 contacts.
