Default Yaesu FT-530 Service Manual/Technical Supplement Needed

I need the Service Manual (Yaesu calls it a "Technical Supplement") for my FT-530. I would appreciate it if somebody had one they would part with, or if someone could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks, 73

Hi Paul, there doesn't appear there is a service manual for the FT-530. At least I couldn't find one other than the schematics you already have.
Perhaps some one can help you if you can tell us what the problem you're experiencing there may be a fix for it. That's one old HT and you certainly haven't got much to lose by trying to repair it yourself.

Actually, there is a service manual ("technical supplement") because I saw where one sold on eBay last September for about $20 - go figure. Anyways, what happened was that I sent it Houston Amateur Radio Supply (BTW, I live in TN) for some work on the BNC connector. I got it back, but after about a month, it got real hot, and shut off (I had the keypad locked, and it was monitoring a UHF frequency on the VHF side, so it is not possible that it keyed up and got hot). I dismantled it, and found that a piece of ribbon cable on the UHF motherboard (at least that is what I think it was) had been burnt up. So I call HARS, and they said to send it back in. So I sent it back to them, and after about 2 ½ months, they said they finally got to the radio (evidently they were backed up a lot) and found the problem, but he needs the technical supplement to order the part (he called it a "flexible circuit board", but I think it is really just a little piece of ribbon cable). I called Yaesu, and they don't have the manual, nor will they work on anything that old, so until I find the manual, I'm in a bind.

NOTE: If anyone wants to make a reasonable offer on the HT, or someone has an FT-530 for parts, I might consider that route too.

    Thanks, 73

Yup, there is a technical supplement. It's 10 pages long and has a block diagram and the schematics for the FT-530. You can get that free on the internet. I checked it out in case Steve (WIK) got something different. Nope, they are identical.
So, you have all the information that can be found. That doesn't mean that Yaesu didn't make one and not release it but it's what it is for now.

This is what I'm looking for, but unfortunately this one sold on eBay last September for $20. After much looking, I finally found what I need at http://www.vintagemanuals.com/. They have an original from which they copy from, but it still costs $36. Better than nothing I guess. Thanks to all who replied and tried to help.

    Thanks, 73
