Default Should I create a new user on PC?

I am using a special call at the moment for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. I simply created a new database/log book for the special call in ham radio deluxe. However, what I'm finding is when I logged an entry using the special call, an entry using my regular call is still being uploaded to HRD. Am I right in saying that in order to use a different callsign I have to create a new user on the computer?

Not a new user on the computer, but rather a new PROFILE in HRD. That the part of the setup where you included your name, QTH, and call. You can do it right from the ALE page and it will then be associated with that log.

I think I may have already done this. I went in to manage databases and created a completely new database for the new callsign. So basically I can click between databases depending on which callsign I'm using. However, whenever I log a contact using GQ0VQY, it automatically add the entry to HRD under G0VQY. If I haven't successfully created a individual profile for this extra callsign then could you please tell me how to do it, because I can't really see anything obvious.

You're on the right track with the new Data Base. If you look under CONFIGURE > MY STATION, you'll notice there's 10 buttons to the right (1 - 10). These correspond to different profiles. Typically profile 1 is your default. If you select another, you can place different station information in there for a different call (I use this option when running with the club call for a contest for instance), different equipment, etc. Select one that's not in use (2 thru 10, doesn't matter) and fill in the blanks. Just remember which you choose. Remember to SAVE it!

Now, when you start your log, in the lower half of the ALE screen, there's a tab for MY STATION. You guessed it, go there and pick the profile you wish to use and it will apply for all following entries into the log. I'm not 100% sure it remembers the profile from session to session, but it's easy to check.

This is also how you can have multiple logs and multiple operators (or single log and multiple operators) if you have say, several Hams in your household or using it in a contest. A profile for each operator and a separate log for each as well (or not for a contest).

Hope you have found this helpful.
