Echolink app to IRLP...
Hello all, thank you for the best HAM site on the net...
So I am going on vacation and in that area there are very few repeaters, and none of them are IRLP or Echolink enabled. I however get good 3G and was wondering if there was a way to use the Echolink app either on the iphone or PC to link to an IRLP enabled repeater back in the home area so I can talk to local HAM friends? Thank you for the time...

That's probably not as easily said as done. You can connect directly to a station that has EchoIRLP installed, but I don't think you can connect directly to a pure IRLP node with anything but another IRLP node. This is because the IRLP folks want to keep their system "pure" - that is, only computer systems hooked to actual radios can use IRLP.
You might also see if any of the repeaters in your area have AllStar links on them. AllStar is another linking system similar to IRLP, but it can be used from a PC. (There's not yet an official AllStar mobile client yet.)

Have them connect to an IRLP experimental reflector they permit echo-link connections, then you can talk on the reflector !
