Post QRZ.com search doesn't work for me

I've tried several searches, and get no results every time.

Agreed. QRZ searches are less accurate, descriptive and/or
timely than on other sites, whether ham radio related or not.

They are not as intuitive or necessarily user friendly. I think
it's time for this site to update it's system to the sign of the times.

Not intended as a criticism, but as a needed observation.

you are searching for to much

    instead of IC-745
    use 745

it only uses the first few characters of the search.

Please read and follow directions more carefully.

try searching for 745 not IC-745 or search for your call sign

search for 745 not IC-745 or your call sign.

it only looks at the first few characters for the search not the entire string

The search function doesn't work and I for one want to know why.

    Where are you typing those?

It sounds like you're trying that at qrz.com but they look like Google searches. I don't think the search engine at qrz.com handles that site: type language.

Those searches work just fine at Google and I think it's the better way to go anyway. New content from qrz.com seems to be visible on Google within hours.

The search on most sites suck and qrz.com is no real exception. The reason is that most sites try to search the content in the database which works okay for smaller sites but falls apart with lots of content. The good way for a web site to implement its own search is to use something like Solr or Elastic Search. That's exactly what I've spent most of this week doing for a big site that I look after.
