Got my General Ticket last night!!
Passed my tech and General last night. i used the ARRL books and the exams here on QRZ. only missed two on each of the test but totally bombed the Extra (never studied at all for it). Now its time to get my radio and on the air! Im pretty nervous and excited at the same time. There is just so much that I have no clue about. It's kinda like taking a drivers test and knowing the compression ratio of the engine and the PSI of the fuel injection system but no idea how to put the car in gear!
For everyone studying for Tech, study for General too. There are A LOT of questions that are the same and the technical level (for the test) isn't any more difficult.
good luck to all and thanks to QRZ for helping me pass. Just waiting now for my call sign.

Congrats! I'll be taking both my Tech, and general in 2 more days! I know I just at least read the Extra materal, but honestly feel that and additional info my cause for to forget what I already know for Tech / General. I'd rather go back and take that test next month. I'd love to read about your thought process as you choose your new rig, as i'm right on your heels!

Good luck Wmacky... if you are passing the qrz tests easily then you will have no problem. i took the extra and it was pretty much well over my head. Didn't even know where to begin with some of the questions. Hopefully i'll get it but it's going to take some serious study time.
As for the radio, haven't settled 100% yet but leaning hard toward the Yaesu 857d. Im going to be working mostly in a portable setting as i live in a rental and no chance of permanent antenna systems. plus i camp and hike a lot and it seems to fit my needs. let me know how you do.
