People with kids should get Burmese pythons or scorpions or similar instead of pits.

We have two boxers and a mini Pit named Gypsy. They are inside dogs. The boxers are Ruthie and Roxie. Dogs seem to take on the personalities of their owners, and we are very calm people. Unless the mailman comes around or the other dogs in the neighborhood are throwing a fit or something, they generally are sleeping or walking around with their tails wagging. That doesn't mean we don't watch them like hawks. As dogs are all territorial, they can get out of hand. There are people that shouldn't own pets, period. You can handle them pretty well if you maintain the Alpha-dog position and aren't cruel to them. That being said, we're still talking about instinct here. This kind of thing is tragic.

How unbiased are facts presented on a web site whose primary focus is catering to dog breeders?
...and NO, it's not a vanity call, it just happened!

My BABY BOY has 2 MANEATING Pitbulls and I am MOST FORTUNATE they haven't eaten our Grandson yet. He says they are SWEET LOVABLE Dogs. They haven't bitten me yet, but you can't walk into the back yard without them jumping up on you. Since they are about 200 lb dogs, they easily knock U down, but they don't bite. That is because they LIKE ME.

BUT I SURE DON'T WANT TO MAKE THEM MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or I am DINNER for them.

I can't get him to get rid of them. He loves them and says they protect the house. I hope all goes well with them. We have fortified the fencing so they can't get out and eat anyone. But if someone violates the yard (some criminal trying to break in); they are TOAST!

To automatically condemn any particular dog based solely on its breed is wrong headed and inaccurate.

However, to deny the fact that certain breeds like like dobbies, and pit bulls are more prone to be aggressive and have physical attributes that make them more dangerous if out of control is also wrong headed and inaccurate.

The only issue I have is that the dog is more capable of inflicting death or severe injury compared to most other breeds. I've seen the results of unprovoked attacks on children and adults and they are very severe compared to attacks by other breeds. Not to mention a majority of the owners down here keep them as a status symbol and for defense -- and they delight when they menace folks or other dogs.

How unbiased are facts presented on a web site whose primary focus is catering to dog breeders?
the primary focus is not dog breeders. the primary focus is potential dog owners researching the breed most appropriate for them
a secondary focus is educating potential dog owners. hence the second link.

    did you read anything there?

do you have a better source?
