I've been a ham for a while now, since 1994. Since that time I have NEVER met a "no-code" who was "bitter" about the code. I'm not saying that you haven't, but thats my experience. I've seen many who stayed at technician class for many years and apparently lost interest in the hobby, never learning Morse. Then there were others who love the hobby, and stayed with it. Some of them have learned the code, some have not. But I have never seen a "bitter" faction.

Indeed, the only bitterness is found in Constipated Whiners such as Chuckie the 5 WPM Wonder, who just can't accept the fact that CW is nothing more than one mode amongst many, and that their vaunted Element 1 credit is meaningless.

Sir, I did not attack you. I had no such motive. The only "attack"s were the ones I quoted coming from YOU. Not to me specifically, but to licensed Amateurs who haven't learned the code. I merely commented, in an appropriate manner, on your derogatory comments. I didn't use a farm animal as a metaphor to make my point.

You may be a Lid if you connect your antenna analyzer to a RF amplifier so that you can test your antennas ERP.

I wonder how many CBers came to Amateur Radio just to use more RF Power Legally.
Does anyone use CBs anymore ?

I own a couple of classic CB's, rarely used though. I might use one on long trips. Throughout ND and MN, I hear very little CB traffic other than from truck drivers and other work related use. I would say the biggest reason why I came to Amateur Radio is because of propagation. I am fascinated with how radio waves move from one place to another, and the distances they travel. I never was a big fan of VHF/UHF because it is almost always line of site.
I remember when I was 9 or 10 years of age, and getting a transistor AM radio for Xmas. I stayed up half the night listening to WLS out of ILL. The static, the fading, that "long distance" sound, the tunes, Three Dog Night, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk. So not only am I a radio fanatic, I am also a music fanatic. I listen FAR more than I transmit on my Amateur equipment.
A funny thing happened about a month ago. I received a SWL card from someone in NJ. I didn't know there was such a thing. At first I thought it was a QSL card but then I noticed the weird call-sign. I pinned up this SWL card with some of my favorite QSL cards.
Weird, I have been listening to others for so many years, now someone went out of there way to let me know they are listening to me.

After reading this thread I think the answer might be "if you have a 2x1 call"
