    Dean S. Hayes, 74, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, of pneumonia. The "CEO" of his family, Dean studied at Whittier Grammar School, Oak Park-River Forest High School, The Citadel and U of I. A Ham radio operator at age 15, he served honorably as a corporal in the Marine Corps and earned Sharp Shooter. After marrying on Jan. 9, 1960, and working as an electrician, Dean joined his parents at Hayes-Johnson Flowers, when their partner passed away. Later, he traveled extensively as director of quality assurance for Rockwell International. He continued his career at Beltone, Inc. and MIDCO achieving ISO certification for their products. He lived his life doing "the right thing," merited countless business awards and was a Son of the American Revolution. Dean is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathy; daughters, Debra Hayes, Darcy (Todd) Mackaman, Danette (Tom) Carlucci and the late Donna (Jeff) Kaput; plus 10 treasured grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Louis Hayes. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St. (two miles west of Route 53, two miles east of Route 83), Addison. Private burial will take place Saturday.
