Prolific PL2303HX Chipset in USB-232 adapters

I was wanting to get a USB-RS232 adapter with a Prolific PL2303HX Chipset

Claims to work with many different Operating Systems.

It seems like every time a person has a connection problem using Ham Radio Deluxe it is blamed on the Prolific Chipset.

Is the Prolific Chipset all that bad ?

Will the Prolific PL2303HX Chipset work with HRD.

I just wonder if Prolific Chipsets got a bad name in the beginning, but maybe now the bugs are worked out, or are they really junk ?

In short - The Prolific chipset or its drivers are buggy. I have all kinds of blue screen problems when using Prolific stuff on Windows 7: even my GPS with its built-in Prolific chip causes my laptop to blue screen.

Avoid Prolific and go with FTDI if you can.
