If you are referring to me I have worked a Hell of a lot more than you have and I didn't need three stations or three computers either. You haven't been around long enough to understand my comment anyway, so why don't you just keep YOUR stupid remarks to yourself?

But hey, each to thier own, I aint chasing paper. Some are. Whatever.
Very interesting comment. There are many variations of DXCC we could develop, even if just for our own entertainment. Some would range only over "countries", as you suggest. And there are still other interesting variations to consider. I sometimes find myself tallying up how many, of all my DX contacts, were contacts with people who actually LIVE in the DX QTH vs how many were a part of DXpeditions or were vacationing. Sure, I know that so far as the ARRL and its awards are concerned it doesn't make a difference, and that's fine. To me, though, it does make a difference. I'm not sure why, but it does. I've also always found it strange that we give out separate DXCC awards for each band. There's certainly nothing wrong with doing that, but it does seem somewhat arbitrary, like having separate DXCC awards for stations contacted on Tuesdays vs the ones contacted on Thursdays. Yes, I know that different bands are favored by any given set of conditions and so on. Still, to my mind, a contact is a contact and a station that's in your log on 5 different bands is no more "in the log" than a station you contacted on a single band.

Some Good Points Here
I don't chase DX as seriously as I used to, but I will still spend a fair amount of time on a "new one". I used to work them on every band I could when I was working on the 5BDXCC and I would try to work them on Phone and CW. I think it is kind of funny when the big guns get on after the second day of a fairly rare one and say: I have 17 contacts so far with the dxpedition. Even if you are chasing the DX Challenge, Is there really a need to work them on all modes AND all modes on all bands? If they want to be SUPER OPS at the end of the DX pedition when they are begging for contacts, there is nothing wrong with that. But to make it tougher for someone with a smaller station who needs them for an all time new one seems kind of selfish to me.
Some hams probably define themselves by their DXCC numbers, and to some extent, maybe I did too (but I was always more of a DX chaser and an operator than a Paper and Award Chaser. I've got my share of awards but they don't seem to mean what they used to. Maybe I just don't have enough Computers and Stations.

Just worked the 7O6T on CW...used my "big" antenna" with my "big" amplifier and my "big" computer for logging. Now onward to the other band slots
For all the small guns out there...put on your big boy panties and charge ahead!!

Actually hear some light copy, very watery, on 20CW, but there are 1000 A******s all transmitting right on top of him.

They were sounding rock solid from my QTH last night on 20 meters.

I think the gamechanger for me--the DXpedition that proved I'm not a "real DXer"--was K5D. The pileups were horrendous for K5D, but I jumped in and called and called and called for what seemed like eternity so that I could make a contact with a station that was right next to Puerto Rico. Eventually they picked me up and I was in the log, but I didn't feel good about it. The only challenge about contacting K5D was being heard above all the other calling stations. It wasn't very far away and there was nothing intrinsically interesting about Desecheo as a DX target (obviously, I'd have felt differently had I been in Asia). So I just didn't get that DXer's "thrill" and instead I felt a little let down. I told myself then that I'd never go to such trouble when I thought the primary challenge was just outlasting the QRM. Fast forward roughly a week and a half and I heard K5D when they were easy pickins. No pileups, no QRM. At that point I felt like a bit of a chump for trying to snag them early on and that's when I decided that I just don't do pileups. (And before you criticize me for avoiding pileups, please note that my doing so means one fewer station in the pileup when YOU are in it!)
The bad news, I guess, is that when there's not a pileup involved I can be just as obsessive about DX as the next guy. I often "stalk" the lower part of the CW portions of the bands, waiting for interesting DX to appear. I'll work them before the DX gets "spotted" on the cluster. This, to me, is a lot of fun, and often the DX appears and doesn't hang around. He's often gone before he ever gets spotted!! I always get a kick out of that.

Funniest thread I have read in a while. I truly hope you wrote this tongue-n-cheek.
