    Desmond Traynor, 85, died April 8, 2012, at Emerald Health Care Nursing Home.
    He was born in Belfast, North Ireland, and moved to Florida in 1994, coming from New York. Before retirement, he had a partnership at Cameo Catering in Garfield, N.J., and also at the Westmount Country Club in Paterson, N.J.
    He was a HAM Radio operator (call sign N2DZ). He was borough engineer for Brooklyn and Queens from 1984 to 1994 and deputy commissioner for New York City under Mayor Dinkins. He graduated from Brooklyn Polytech, Summa Cum Laude, in mechanical engineering. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Traynor of Port St. Lucie; daughter, Maura McCann of North Carolina; son, Dr. Kevin Traynor of Port St. Lucie; brother, Hugh Traynor of New York; sister, Una Santos of California; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services: A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. April 11 at the Aycock Funeral Home Chapel in Port St. Lucie. A guestbook is available at www.aycockportstlucie.com.
