Thousands during the first 300 years willingly gave themselves up to martyrdom, and many thousands in the last 2000 years have given themselves up willingly. So stating that defending oneself is ordained by God isn't really so. That is, as far as the Christian faith goes.
That was then. Messiah said to swap your good cloak for a sword if you didn't have one. Any man that refuses to defend his family, neighbors, community, isn't much of a xtian far as I am concerned.

Wait. I get to shoot at bad guys with the weapons of my choice and get paid for it? Where do I sign? Can I get that flame thrower shipped?

Not taking a religious side, but agree with the right to protect yourself and your property, but I don't think "God" has anything to do with it.

Getting wildcat calibres will cost you some, brass needs to be made as you mentioned, so pick off the shelve calibres fitting your purposes.
For most cases the 7.62 Nato round is doing fine, or your .223 rounds.
But then it'[s up to you to pick the rifle/calibre for the purposes you have.
.22LR is nice for target practise or plinking and cheap as chips.
I've got a .22lr revolver and a bolt-action rifle for general marksmanship and teaching my kids and wife to shoot. Dirt cheap and still quite effective for the purpose. The Hi-Point .40 is my range gun that doubles for home defense should that particular need arise, cheap, reliable, and if I run out of bullets, it's a halfway decent club to beat someone with. The 12-gauge shotgun, of course a staple, doesn't get as much range time as it needs anymore... the poor girl needs some TLC. And finally, I bought a 1939 Mosin M91/30 for my cheap higher-power shooting option, which doubles as a hunting rifle, should that particular fancy arise. The 7.62x54R surplus ammo is cheap to shoot, and the steel butt plate only bruises my arm after a dozen or so rounds.
I'm convinced that guns breed in the night while simultaneously mugging my wallet. I had only one pistol for something like 4 years before adding a second one... and now I have five total firearms! I know, no gun nut, but considering I started from naught, that's pretty good. I need to avoid the gun and pawn shops something fierce!

The US M1 Carbine in .30 can be reloaded with the same powder, and Federal Rifle primers.

Wow, you guys have some very liberal firearms laws, it seems.
Here, you would be demonized for having an "arsenal".
Is it hard to become a citizen of Holland?
Need any truck drivers? I'm not a P!$$ bottle man.

That Somali pirate company is going to have to do some retraining in safety when they report those worker's comp claims to the head office.
Just because you disagree with me don't make you right.

LOL
40.000 sport shooters here in our country with near 17 million people, add the same amount of hunters and that's it.
Allowed are any semi auto firearms up to and .50 BMG, not really a gun culture.
Then there are the clubs with British Long bow shooting, crossbow shooting, airguns, up to 9 mm air rifles which have the same power as a 9mm handgun round.
Having an arsenal? we have gun collectors with firing stuff running in 100's of rifles and handguns, some very nice stuff i get to shoot too, lots of muzzleloaders WW1 or WW2 arms too.
Having an 100 meter indoor range we can shoot all year through.
50.000 USA citizens work and live here, another one won't bust us but you really want to come over and enjoy the perks of our social democratic system?
Been driving 18 wheelers for 6 years when i was younger, Amstel and heineken beer export all over Europe.
Not much need for truck drivers, lots of competition from the former East block countries with low wages though.
But if you have other qualifications we have a low unemployment here, 5% all counted.
Wages are good, healthcare for all, subsidized rent if your wages are low 4 to 8 weeks paid holliday's etc.

The only thing god gave anyone was the will to survive. In the animal kingdom, animals often steal food from other animals. It's a fact of life: Without societal rules, you only have the "right" to hang onto something that a stronger person doesn't want. And, no deity gave us society, they are constructs of man.
