Kevin McGown, AA6HH, passed away on March 13th. He was 62, and lived in Oakland, CA.

Kevin obtained the vanity call K6VIN, but decided to go back to AA6HH because he loved the way it felt in Morse code.
He worked mostly on 40 meter QRP CW, but also 30m and 80m, and even QRP. A regular on local 2 meter and 70 cm local nets,
he always had his H/T with him.

Kevin served in the Navy as a communications specialist, and was stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam war. After
returning to the US, he enrolled at San Jose State University studying linguistics.

He worked as a paralegal and an administrator for the Office of the President of the University
of California, various non-profits, and finally at Alameda County Employees retirement association
    as an executive assistant.

Kevin was also a volunteer for many organizations, including AA, St. Anthony's Dining Room,
and the First Unitarian Church of Oakland. In his spare time he learned to play the ukelele
    and to speak Hawaiian.

Kevin was a generous soul who will be missed by many. His ham radio equipment has been
distributed among many local hams, and will keep his memory alive in the air waves.
