    Default Receiving QSL cards

Whats the average wait time to receive a QSL card?
I've been waiting almost 18 months now & my
check was cashed within the 1st month sent.

Check? I never heard of DX stations accepting checks for postage. Is this for a DX station? What is the stations call?

A long time, a short time, or somewhere in between.

Neither have I. I guess they would for contributions though.

I also would wonder who the DX was.

Anywhere from 3 months to never, in my experience thus far and sending no checks.

I presume the check you are talking about is money you sent to your incoming bureau to handle postage and such. They typically wait until they have a full envelope to make the most of your money and their time. You can ask them to send what they have at any time. Otherwise, they wait.

Whose card are you waiting for?

Who did you send the check to and for what purpose?

If the check went to the Incoming DX QSL bureau to cover postage, you may have a long wait. It can take months or even years for cards to trickle through the buro system. But drop a note to the "Z" sorter at the "9" buro, and ask if there are cards waiting for you. If you ask, he/she will send what's on hand, even if it's not a "full" envelope yet.

Now if the check went as a donation to a rare DX station's manager, or to a DXpedition, I'd say 18 months is more than enough time to wait, and you should contact them to find out if your card "fell through the cracks." It happens, even with the best managers sometimes.

No one sends checks you send cash I use a $2 bill and a single for the 3 IRC's are a pain to use and a lot of countries won't accept them so I stopped buying them last year. Still have 50 or so but once gone that's it no more.

I have waited for 3-4 yrs for a direct card and 7-9 for a buro and some never. The best way is LoTW for sure and cheapest I use it only for bands and modes. I find the best way if offered is the online donation using Pay Pal easy and you don't have to send a card all you do is send your QSO info and pay.

Sometimes you won't get a QSL because you aren't in the log. Online logs are great--you can make sure you are in the log before sending in your donation!

I get direct cards from DX stations well over a year after my QSO. Bureau can be up to 5 years in my experience.

Given my work schedule, I only send out cards when I return home, which can be up to 7 months after my QSO. Bureau cards are at the bottom of my answer pile, so it can take months after I get home to get sent out.

If you sent a direct donation, it shouldn't take more than a few months after the check was cashed, unless your mail was lost. I agree LoTW is the way to go if you're in a hurry.

BTW, 2-3 greenstamps should be the norm as postage is well over $1 for international letters. IRC's work in some places as well.
