    Michael Allen Van Winkle "W4HV" of Mt. Carmel, TN, 51 years old, was born December 17, 1960 in Wise County, Virginia and died unexpectedly on March 24, 2012 in Mt. Carmel, TN. He was an avid ham radio extra class operator, radio antennae designer and builder and loved photography. Mike was the owner/operator of Van Winkle and Associates Insurance Company, Kingsport, TN and co-owner of DX Blaster, Kingsport, TN. Michael "Mike" never met a stranger and believed in random acts of kindness. He always wanted to leave you with a smile. Mike was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and dad and will be missed by many.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Carlos Van Winkle; his maternal grandfather, Hughie Campbell; and paternal grandparents.

    Michael is survived by his wife, Janet of the home; brother, Greg Van Winkle and wife, Donna, Bristol, TN; maternal grandmother, Nell Campbell, Roda, VA; stepsons, Eddie Mullins. Mt. Carmel, TN and Matthew Mann, Gate City, VA; nephew, Greg Van Winkle and wife, Cara, Kingsport, TN; nieces, Andrea Taylor and husband, Clay, Big Stone Gap, VA, Destiny and Alexia Van Winkle, Bristol, TN; great-nephews, Caleb, Wesley and Chase; mother-in-law, Margie Harless, Mt. Carmel, TN; and special dear friends, Doug and Kelly Craft.

    The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 28th, 2012 from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Preacher Bill Hughes officiating.

    Entombment services will be conducted on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers Eddie Mullins, Doug Craft, Ryne Craft, Andrew Napier, Greg Van Winkle and Stanley Hart.
