Default Icom 706 mkII G DTMF mic

I have recently puchased a second hand Icom 706 mkII G, which unfortunately didn't come with its original microphone.
Whilst the microphone I am using is OK, I have seen replacements available that have a DTMF keypad on them.
The problem I have is that there appear to be conflicting reports whether they actually work with the 706 or not.
Has anyone got one and confirm which model it is and working or not etc ?

HM-118T is listed in the US manual. Photo of mic with DTMF pad.

Universal Radio and others show current mic as HM-118tn (note 'n') as available.

I don't know if there is a different European model with the (1750?) access tone of if that is selectable in the radio.

I am unaware of any DTMF mics that work with the 706 series
When I look up HM-118TN mics on ebay, most of the listings include this or similar....

Compatible with ICOM mobile station radios:

    IC-2720H IC-2725E IC-208H IC-E208 IC-V8000 IC-2200H etc

    DTMF cannot work on IC-706MKII
AFAIK, there is no difference in the mic wiring between the MKII and MKIIg.
Please prove me wrong... I would like this functionality.

All the suppliers I've looked at list the HM-154T as the DTMF mic for the '706MKIIG.

FWIW, I've never tried it with my 'MK2G. Might be worth a call to Icom?

When I bought my 706MKIIG way back when, I ordered the optional touch tone mic with it as well. Never had a problem using it with the 706MKIIG. The mic was an HM118TN.

Cross referencing Icom mics can be a pain. I don't recall any other DTMF mics as being listed to be compatible with the 706MK2G, yet the HM-118TN is listed as a compatible mic with many of their newer radios, along with other Icom DTMF mics! One would assume that the other DTMF mics must be similar if they can be used interchangeably with the HM-118TN, but why they woul not be listed as compatible with the 706MKIIG is beyong me!

In Icom's knowledge base, is a microphone compatibility chart. The HM-118 is the listed TT mic.

    Hi all,
Many thanks for the informative replies.
Looks like the HM-118TN is the one to go for then
I'll purchase one and report back.
    Cheers,
    Richard
