That really surprises me. A lot.
There's no difference in sensitivity amongst everything on the market. The differences are noise reduction, signal filtering and shaping, and other things. I think the TS-480's receiver is very good; but then I'm using beams on all bands except the lowest ones.
I can "hear stuff" on my Ten Tec Orion I could not hear on the FT-950 at all...but that wasn't due to sensitivity, it was due to filtering and noise rejection. In the absence of interference and noise, they were the same.
