What rig were you using?

I was at about 900 watts into my beam.

Radio is an FT-1000D, just back from a tune up.

And I may very well be mistaken, but I thought he was using a BigIR vertical. Maybe that was just when we dropped down to 40. I dunno

WA2JUN is one of the worst offenders ever when it comes to splattering...,
guess he didn't like the competition...

Yeah, what a grouch he was! Sheesh! Wanna bet he had his receiver pre-amp, and noise blanker cranked (both of which can make anybody sound like a splatter master)?

Ditto on the preamp & NB. Also, as far as JUN's splatter, I bet he doesn't use a 'scope to monitor his transmission and has no idea if he's flat-topping. Oh well.
