    Cool AMP hook up

Hi Guys Ive got a FT 897d, on the side is the AT 897 PLUS tuner. I have a Heathkit SB 20 amp and to interface that amp ive got the Ameritron 704.

OK The 897 has one CAT port that the tuner plugs into (8 pin mini din) that goes to the tuner (LDG AT 897 PLUS) and out of the tuner you have an ( 8pin mini din) ad it says computer. OK In that computer port I have a cable CT62 which goes to my computer to run N1MM logging and radio control program. All this is fine and working great.

The problem is that the AMP inter face also uses an 8 pin mini din cable for the amp grounding and 13.5 volts for the interface.
NO Where to plug in the second 8 pin mini din.

I thought I had seen a "Y" cable just for this but im not finding it now.

Got any suggestions. I have seen the CAT MATE that W4RT sells but WONT Work with the tuner. !!

    Now what do we do.

Why are you using a tuner between the radio and the amp? If you do need a tuner i place a much larger one after the amp.

Thats just the way Ive been doing it for couple years. The LDG tuner is only 100 watts so has to be in front of the amp. Ive never had the N1MM logging program before so thats why I need two 8 pin mini plugs. TKS

Well if you wanted to do some solder work and some rewiring you could use the AUX jack in the rear of the radio to key the amp interface and also for ALC info. Then pick up the DC you need from the power supply. I don't know exactly what wires in the din cable you need from the interface to do that but i am sure if i looked at the manual or did a quick internet search i could find it. The AUX Jack i believe is simply 3.5 mm stereo jack you pick up at your local radio shack. Although i am still a bit baffled why you think you need the tuner in line where you placed it... But i won't argue that with you as you seem to have a reason for that. However the amp issue is not that hard if you think about what i just said. And that seems to cure your problem as you now have used all the necessary ports on the radio with all the accessories you wishing to use... Jeff
