I think I will pass on getting the new version. I'm looking at other software since your going to be charging
80.00 for HRD in 6.0V so no since messing with it.

    To W4PC
I'm having no luck connecting to 5.11 for rig control. Using prolific and ftdi cables to try to connect.
Use HRD for DM780 and logbook & that works fine.
I'm using :IC 756 pro II, Donner rig control, & HRD 5.11.
Any ideas? I'm subscribed for 6.0 & would like to get full benefit.
    Thanks

do they have 6.0 out for trial? I'm not going to pay 60.00 for something I can not see and don't know what functions they added.

I'd be happy to pay $80 for it. HRD is so ubiquitous in ham shacks around the world. If I had to criticize it, I'd say it tries to do too many things at once. I'm always amazed it manages to do most of them very well, without the hassle of integrating multiple disparate packages from different sources.

When other commercial software (Office, Adobe, etc) costs 100's to 1000's of dollars, $80 for something that is supported, extensively used by hams everywhere, and becoming something of a standard - is cheap.

The problem is once you give something away, people will never want to pay for it. The'll pay through the nose all their lives for crap, but give them something good that is free and they are now entitled to use it for free forever. Why buy the cow if you can get the milk for free.

There are other products, there is Linux, and there is coding and building things yourself. Its Ham Radio. Whatever you enjoy, whatever works for you.

But as an overall plug and play package (or as nearly as it can be with the variety of radios and standards out there - not to mention user skills in understanding computer software and hardware) - it is an amazing product.

I love it and use it everyday. I have been a financial supporter of HRD and will purchase this version in time.
