KB9REE writes "Have you ever wanted to do something to pay back those who helped you into the amateur community, but never knew what? Now you can if you hold a General class or higher license, have never had your license suspended or revoked, and have been certified by a VEC as a VE.
What is a VEC or VE? The former is a Volunteer Exam Coordinator and the latter is of course a Volunteer Examiner. This is a great way to get your community service hours, too, if you are looking for ways to do that.
All you have to do is find out what VEC your local testing group(the same ones who may have administered your last exam!) uses for exams and write them for information and application. Once you have been certified, sit in on a session to learn how to participate. If you have questions I may be able to answer see my listed email address. One of my nicest thrills this year was to tell someone their license had appeared on the FCC website.
Being a VE is fun!
