This article is misleading at best. The federal government is already fully enabled to seize sites on US soil participating in copyright violations. And, this new form has an appeals, and is only valid when used against websites not based in the US, and does not fall under the safe harbor provisions.

Now, the mechanism is just as broken (DNS breaking). However, the procedure, in my non-legal eyes, is sound.

I supported this thinking it was the sopapilla act -- to prevent illegal immigration. My bad.

Hardly. SOPA and PIPA, in any form, take civil cases and places them in the penal system. That's not the way the system is supposed to work.
