This article is misleading at best. The federal government is already fully enabled to seize sites on US soil participating in copyright violations. And, this new form has an appeals, and is only valid when used against websites not based in the US, and does not fall under the safe harbor provisions.

Now, the mechanism is just as broken (DNS breaking). However, the procedure, in my non-legal eyes, is sound.

I supported this thinking it was the sopapilla act -- to prevent illegal immigration. My bad.

With due respect, I don't see how this applies to anyone in the UK, so the 'monster' isnt even on your planet:-)

SOPA and PIPA, in modified form, are outstanding defenders of authors and IP holders.

Hardly. SOPA and PIPA, in any form, take civil cases and places them in the penal system. That's not the way the system is supposed to work.

    From: http://www.blacklistednews.com/SOPA_...0/0/0/Y/M.html

Many of us breathed a sigh of relief when an overwhelming amount of Americans banned together and voiced their opposition to Congress over both the Stop Online Piracy Act, and Protect Intellectual Property Act.

OK.....Did we Band together or get Banned together...I'm confused. Who writes this stuff? Who proofs this stuff?
