I have been logged onto QRZ when trying to get call sign data in the log book and nothing happens.
So I will do it my way, besides I don't mind paying $30 for a service I use on a daily basis and on some days I use it a lot.

Why would I tell it to your computer? I'm telling you.

Myself, and many people are able to operate our computers and HRD properly, and get the same end effect you do when your computer is working, but for free. I'd guess you either have made a change in HRD inadvertently, or it’s a problem with internet explorer settings or cookies. But to claim you need to pay to get the same feature is false, I hope you know that.

That's cool that you want to contribute! Many people do and the owner certainly appreciates it! I doubt he wants people to pay for something that they only think they can get by paying. But your way is paying for something that’s free, or putting blame on a paid feature that’s not needed, for what you describe.

FYI you said the same thing in June, about how you have to pay for it to work, and you were corrected. I am not sure why you feel the need to say the same incorrect things twice, but felt compelled to let you, and others know, you are incorrect. Do you get a kick back from subscriptions?

FYI unlike some hams I am not cheap and I do not mind paying for a service. Some people need to realize that the owners of this website have to pay for band width, upgrades etc etc. Sure they have advertisers which help pay the freight. But they also have many hams who pay for a good service offered to them.

What will people do if the new owners of HRD eventually charge for that software?

It amazes me that people spend thousands of dollars on radios, amps, towers, antennas etc and won't pony up $30 a year for a service. I can afford to pay, I don't whine about paying. $30 is peanuts, chump change.

Sooner or later the free ride will come to an end. I say the sooner the better.

I've searched all over the config options and cannot find where to put in my QRZ logon/password. Where is it hiding? My QRZ button in HRD is grayed out. I have 167 days left in my subscription, so it should be working.
    Thanks

    Hello Dennis

Bring the logbook up, and go to Tools.

    Then Configure

Then Callsign Look up. Look up Options. There you will see the User name and Pass word boxes. Put your QRZ user name in there, and pass word. Also check off Subscription Interface.

You should be good to go then.

Thanks Rick. Far more complicated than it used to be. It would have been helpful if it just had a drop down menu item to enroll subscriptions, but it is what it is.

    I'll give it a go.

    It doesn't do that now.
The OP stated he was using HRD V4. There have been changes made to QRZ XML lookup service since HRD 4 was last maintained (it is no longer supported). I recommended the upgrade as it would have incorporated those changes. It was valid advice.

Nothing had changed in three days for the OP. I do not understand your point.

Anybody know if anything has changed in QRZ.com in the last day or so - currently 8th November. noticed that now only getting a locator returned into HRD logbook system (V5 latest incarnation), and logfile omits the name and QTH fields. rebooted all programs without success?

HRD a bit in limbo as nothing heard as of yet as regards support by the new owners.

    Charlie (G4EST),

there's a similar Thread on the subject you mentioned over on HRD's Forum. Appears something may very well have changed - again. Affects v5.0 B2893, current vers as of this Post. XML Feed is ok, only the Web Interface lookups are affected.

It is a change here on QRZ. I first noticed on DM780 then a toolbar, Hamlinks from N0HR quit working as well.
