    Interesting that the thread about Steve Jobs, who marketed mostly high-tech toys, got more posts than this thread about someone who made a real contribution.

    Most people don't realize the significance of the development of radar. So many of the accomplishments that have occurred since WWII couldn't have been done without it. Our space program would have gone nowhere without radar, air travel would still be in its infancy, ships would only be able to sail in good weather, and the cops couldn't write you a speeding ticket....
