Default Need help setting up Echolink, switched from dial-up to AT&T Mi-Fi

I switched from dial-up internet service to a Mi-Fi wireless internet service from AT&T
When I activate Echolink I can not connect to other user's, I get a time out error.

Not sure what to change in my setup, any help would be nice.
    Thanks
    Bill

See if in your documentation lists which ports are "blocked"
Sometimes heir stuff will filter anything beyond email and
Web ports.. If it's not in your paper work ask them if they
Block the ports. ((ports used are in the echolink docs))
Can't recall them off the top of my head

I was able to get echolink to work by on checking direct connect and picking a public proxy from the list.
Not sure how to unblock the ports, I think the ports are #5198 & 5199

A 3G connection is really not good for VoIP applications... there are a couple problems, including packet loss and latency.

The real problem, though, is that EchoLink requires you to allow incoming connections for everything to work 100%. Your AT&T connection won't actually allow you to open incoming ports, since you are going to be NAT'd inside of AT&T's own network. The proxy solution is about the best you're going to get.

I have ATT Yahoo DSL with an ATT supplied 2WIRE modem with WiFi capability. In its default state the port required for Echolink is not available however there is a procedure to unblock it; it can be done from your computer by addressing the modem and then changing its setting. Obtain assistance from your Internet provider's technical assistance telephone number. Once the port is open, Echolink works fine. Check the Echolink website to obtain the port number information, first.

Had a phone call with a tech. from Novatel Wireless yesterday, not good news. Was told that there is No Portforwarding with the ATT MiFi Hot spot unit.

After you launch Echo Link you need to go to stetup and pick a public proxy from the list, and use that.
