    Default Yaesu FT-857 environmental specifications

    Hello,
I'm looking to install an 857 on my motorcycle but I'm worried about its inability to handle the environment...most concerned about
temps both high (above 100) and low (below 32). I have looked for the envir. specs but cant find any info...
Any one out there with handy specs or personal experience with this radio in harsher-than-shack environments?
    Thanks,
    Tom

100+ is nothing. The average vehicle in direct sunlight gets FAR above that temp and the 857 handles it fine.

As far as cold, my 857 has been to -46F. The screen doesn't work, the tuning dial is impossible to move, and the mic cord cracks if you move it. But letting it warm up and the radio works fine.

So 32 to 100F should be ZERO problem.

I`d be more worried about getting water in it or on it than temp extremes.

Thanks guys for the helpful information...I'm going ahead with vim and vigor!
I think the water issue might be an issue with the remote head but I think I
can find a nifty water proof box for it but that would make tuning a little tricky.
If it does rain I can through a baggie over it when stopped. the dash stays quite
dry when running. I plan to install the main unit somewhere in the back with
plenty of water protection but not temp.
    Thanks again.
